ochids by the sea

Will anyone be participating in orchids by the sea this year?
I only found out about this event today, and I was flicking through the photos online, and thought, man I could win this competition for sure! Grand champion prize of $250 big ones, PLUS sash!   HELLO, PLUS SASH!
Sadly, according to these RULES stated below. I will not be able to compete, and or win.
rule 4. This show is for growers who are current financial members of the Manly Warringah Orchid Society Inc. and only they shall be eligible to enter. How do i sign up?
rule 6. All exhibits in competitive sections will have been owned and personally grown by the exhibitor for 6 months prior to the show. Obviously, I have been very busy and was unable to do that.

I never thought I would say this... but I think its time I got into competitive flower arranging.

flower crown 101.1

I'm here to tell/warn you that cymbidium orchids do not make good flower crowns.
SURE! they may look great
BUT! they may try to kill you
WELL? Don't they smell nice? NOPE.. they don't. No matter how hard you sniff.

hamish & kristy

If you are a guy and you want to get married, then I would have suggested you marry Kristy. Not only is she very pretty and funny and very very organised, but she has connections! Flower connections! Her uncle is the grower of most of the beautiful natives pictured in this 100 kilo bouquet of goodness. Well you have missed out. Hamish* snapped her up and they were married earlier this year at lovedale. (its a real place, its lovely)
* Hamish is very pretty and funny and organised also.

Bridal party bouquets by The Flower Drum and flowers for the reception & ceremony were made extra special with the help from Hamish & Kristys wonderful family.

Bride & Brides babes
oh my god, i cant stop looking at it! HOW GOOD ARE NATIVES?!

my bouquets float in mid air!

Lucky fella Christian (who makes the best fish tacos in the whole world) caught the bouquet*, and now he and brent from the dandy warhols will get married. How nice.  *No he didnt.

cross crossed

Glass vases are kind of driving me crazy right now. Spirally stemmy stems exposing themselves in a glass watering holes for the whole world to see. When I looked at my vase holding a beautiful armful of lilies it sort of reminded me of lots of giant cranky grass hoppers with their arms crossed in a clear quarantine -Except a bit more beautiful.
Do you know what im talking about?
So I decided to razzy daz up the scene. Plants in boxes reading books, lilies holidaying in sarongs and pyromanic jonquils suspiciously wrapped up in joss paper. I think you should try it, and submit your photos here -  FD FB come on, do it!

xochimilco magico

Chimmy changa'luuula hit off to meHico a little while back. And only just TODAY,
only RIGHT now did she show me her photos. And only just THEN did I peel myself off from the floor where I had passed out from all of the amaze'dness
She boarded one of these cutie pie boats as pictured below and drifted down the river to be capt'eye'vated by the sights. I love mexico's unnecessary dizzying excessive use of colours. Oh my god, I love it so gosh darn much.It makes me so happy.
I would dress mexican every day, no i dont mean I'd dress like a quesadilla.
I mean me and Frida Kahlo... you wouldn't be able to tell us apart.

THE  original chimmy changa

My New Dream Home
I also really love how when people come back from their nice holidays and tell me how much I would have loved it. Yes, I know I would have loved it, I love going on holidays.

crump & the crumpet

I went to the most amazing wedding on the weekend. Was it the mini bus ride that made it so enjoyable, was it the light shining from the sun giving everyone a cybil shephard glow and the gentle sound of ukuleles playing in the background, was it the fact that I got the lamb instead of the fish or that I realised I quite like champagne all of a sudden...
I dont know. But it was THE BEST. Liv & Pete tied the knot with such record speed that the contestants of the amazing race could only dream of beating, yet every detail and every single thing about this wedding was so beautiful.  thank you for having me  x
